September 2011 - International Peace Day
The Robert Muller LIFE School is named after the former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, who advocated peace through education. It's only fitting, then, that we as a school celebrate the UN's International Peace Day. 3rd-6th graders prepared to lead a whole-school assembly by studying the UN and its mission, important peacemakers such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, and Rigoberta Menchu, and learning about current conflicts around the world.
Some classes made posters about the important peacemakers, while in other classes, students drew their own ideas about peace and how we can achieve it. 5th and 6th graders interviewed students and teachers about their ideas for peace, documented some of the activities, which 3rd and 4th grade teacher Jenn compiled into the video below.
